Introduction Green Coffee
It is not a secret anymore that losing weight can be considered to be incredibly difficult as compared to gaining it. Hence, in order to see one’s body toned and slim people have resorted to all sorts of supplements. The question is – Why choose Green Coffee?
Green coffee bean extract is the most popular amongst them. Green coffee bean extract is now available online and is selling like hot cake, since it contains a substance called chlorogenic acid which is believed to be most effective in ensuring weight loss.
Here are a few questions which I believe to be significant in order to understand everything about green coffee.
What is green coffee?
In plain words, green coffee beans are unroasted coffee beans. The ’normal’ coffee beans are roasted before being sold, which is why they are brown in colour. Also, this process of roasting the coffee beans strips them from their antioxidants property.
Here is a fact – coffee beans are overwhelmed with antioxidants and pharmacologically active compounds (caffeine and chlorogenic acid). The process of roasting of coffee beans reduces the percentage of chlorogenic acid which is believed to be the main active ingredient in green coffee beans effecting weight loss.
Hence, a normal coffee will not have the anti-oxidation oxidation effects and will not result in weight loss while green coffee may score better on this front.
How Does Green Coffee Work?
There have been various researches which detail the influence of green coffee on the human body.
It is known that green coffee bean extract contains certain amount of caffeine. There have been some studies which concluded that caffeine can boost metabolism by 3 – 11%. (1, 2)
Adding to it, some studies also go on to suggest that intake of green coffee beans facilitates in absorption of carbohydrates from digestive system which in turn ensures low blood sugar and curbs insulin spikes (3, 4).
Yet there are certain other researchers (which have been conducted in mice and rats), which suggest that chlorogenic acid which is found in abundance in green coffee helps reduce body weight, fat in the diet, fat in the liver and improves the functioning of adiponectin (a hormone which burns fat). (5, 6).
If these studies are to be believed, then all the effects of green coffee beans point out towards a healthy body metabolism and weight loss. Probably this is why green coffee is becoming very popular.
Is It Safe To Drink Green Coffee?
To answer this question, let us understand the various studies which have been conducted on humans to test the effect of green coffee bean extract.
One of those studies (which was amongst the so-called randomised controlled trials – considered to be the gold standard of scientific experiments) enrolled 30 individuals who were overweight and studied their weight behaviour over 12 weeks.
These were individuals were divided into two groups. The first group of six individuals was given regular coffee to consume while the other group was provided with green coffee (200mg). It is interesting to note that neither of the group was instructed to make an alteration in their daily routine or diet habits.
At the end of 12 weeks it was noted that the group which was consuming green coffee had lost 11.9 pounds (5.4kg) while the other group had lost only 3.7 pounds (1.7kg). Also, no other side effects were observed in the group consuming green coffee.
To sum up, it may be stated that the research suggests that green coffee is safe to drink.
Grecobe Green Coffee Price
In the backdrop of its increasing popularity, there are various Green coffees which have flooded the market. In my opinion, the deciding factor is not the green coffee price but the process of making of the green coffee.
The more natural the process is, the more preferable the coffee should be. Here is my recommendation for a good greencoffee – Grecobe. It is a pure green coffee beans extract.
On an average, you can get a cup of green coffee from Rs. 10/- to Rs. 20/-.
