What is Green Coffee?
Green coffee is the coffee made from real green coffee beans or powder of green coffee beans. It is prepared in the same way as normal coffee except it has a neutral taste without any flavor. Extra flavor can only be provided by adding extra ingredients such as ginger, cinnamon, etc.
Green coffee is really healthy for the body. It helps to lose body weight, controls the blood pressure, minimizes the risk of cardiovascular diseases, manages diabetes, improves blood circulation, etc.
When To Drink Green Coffee?
The benefits from green coffee or any other beverage can only be gained when that beverage is consumed at the right time and in the right amount.
Similarly, the best time to drink green coffee is before consuming any meal. This means that you can drink green coffee before breakfast, lunch, and dinner i.e. three times a day.
Why?
You can drink green coffee in the daytime but it is preferred to drink it before consuming a meal. As you know that green coffee is proved to inhibit the release of glucose into the blood. Thus, it is recommended to consume it before a meal, so that the glucose released after consuming a meal can be managed, especially in diabetic individuals.
Blood glucose levels are generally raised more after consuming any meal because our food items contain carbohydrates. But green coffee prevents the release of carbohydrates from a meal into the blood. This lowers blood glucose levels. This is the main reason that green coffee helps to manage diabetes.
Why You Should Not Drink Green Coffee While Consuming a Meal?
Drinking any beverage (green coffee, tea, juice, soft drinks, etc) while eating food is not good for our body because beverages dilute the digestive juices of the stomach. It should be known that fluids, i.e. beverages, leave the stomach faster than the solid food. Thus, beverages tend to take out the digestive juices of the stomach and the stomach is left without sufficient juices to digest the food.
Drinking green coffee or any beverage also encourages the poor chewing of the food. This is because the food is washed along with fluids from mouth down to the stomach even before proper chewing.
Food is meant to be completely mixed with saliva during chewing so that it can be easily and accurately swallowed. Beverages, including green coffee, replace saliva in the chewing process and make the un-chewed or half-chewed food to be swallowed leading to improper digestion.
Thus, it is better to drink green coffee before consuming any meal so that blood glucose levels can be controlled and food items can be properly digested. Ultimately, these two ways will lead to the management of body weight.
